POLLACK! Now at Trammell-Gagne

POLLACK Fabrics! Need we say more?

We are EVER so excited to share with you the news that Pollack is now at Trammell-Gagne. Please come into our showroom to check our Pollack in its new home, and see their latest collection PURE.

Pure, the first new product label in our 22 year history, is a celebration of the essential. At once sensuous and spare, it is a distillation of what we have built our celebrated reputation on: textiles of uncommon beauty that are the result of innovative materials and fine engineering. Pure, however, highlights natural fibers and focuses on nuanced texture over color and pattern; it recognizes the most basic elements of textile design.

An extravagant amount of embroidery quilts the silk face of Quilted Paisley to its supporting layers, with the sweeping motif interpreted in a sophisticated tone-on-tone palette. Silk Woodblock presents a delicate fretwork of color and texture, while Wool Homespun employs a thick worsted wool to weave its soft, rustic surface.

The precise patterning of the sumptuous Checkered Velvet is created by areas of alternately cut and voided pile. The result is a tailored and lustrous surface with what approaches a gilded elegance.

This varied group of fabrics presents a range of simple and elegant patterns and surfaces that are all woven from rapidly renewable sources.

Mark Pollack

Mark Pollack

Renowned textile designer Mark Pollack has been "solving problems" - his definition of the design process - since graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 1976.

"My background is in fine arts. I am interested in fine arts. And I try to inform my fabrics with a fine art sensibility."

He has taught textile design at RISD, Philadelphia University and Moore College of Art. Pollack's designs have won numerous accolades, including Roscoe/BOY awards and IBD awards. His widely published fabrics have been included in many museum and gallery exhibitions and are in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, the Denver Art Museum, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the RISD Museum of Art.

"Anything you design can be used," he insists,
"but how well it can be used is a critical measure of how well designed it is".

Put into practice at his namesake fabric company, Pollack's emphasis on both function and beauty has earned him the recognition as one of his field's greatest talents.
